Going to the Strip Club

Well, I'm off to the strip club. This will make my third time going there. It's crazy fun, good people, pretty somethin, somethins to look at. Oh, and the snacks are usually so yummy.

Well, okay I'm really going to the a quilt shop (magicalstitches.net) and using precut strips to make a laptop size quilt. The colors and pattern are a surprise. I always learn a new technique and have been using colors that aren't normally me.

What a great show

 These are more pictures from the Perry Crossroads Quilt Guild show held this past weekend. So many creative women (and one man in our guild). I have yet to learn to applique well. I can do it, just my work isn't as good as I'd like. I know, practice, practice, practrice.

This one is based upon what she saw behind her eyelids while laying in the hot Georgia sun.

This is a miniature, although hard to tell in this photo. each tree is only 4-5" tall.

Our Quilt Guild's First Show

Our local quilt guild just had their first show. It wasn't huge, but they had fun.We had about 110 quilts to show this year.

These two cat quilts were part of a challenge in our guild. We were given a paint chip with six color swatches on it. You had to use all six colors but could use more. These two folks had the same color chip and both did cats. I thought that was pretty interesting. Both are great quilt makers.

I love the colors in this sunflower quilt. The picture does not do it justice.

My first dozen

No not rugs, that was years ago.
No not quilts, well maybe.

But chicken eggs. I finally put the coop together and put my last three chickens in it. They are not real happy right now. They are used to having free range over five acres. But finding the eggs was like an Easter Egg Hunt. Oh, here's one, maybe a day or two later I"d find another one. Sometimes, broken, but since I never knew how long ago it was laid, I just threw them out. These eggs are sooooooo good. The yolk is orange in color and tastes better than store bought eggs. I hope to get more peeps in the spring.
I'm down to just three chickens. All reds laying pretty brown eggs.

This is the little coop I purchased as a kit on-line. Big mistake, it's poorly put together. I had to have them ship pieces three times as it kept being shipped broken.

This is made with leftover kit pieces and some extra wood lying around. I painted it a robin's eggs blue (although it shows a bit darker in the photo). This will be for the guinea hens coming on June 1st.

This fish rug won best in show, the colors were absolutely beautiful.

I forgot to take a picture of my own rug. I did finish the lady from last year. She turned out great. I'll add more later.

This is Bev Conway's primitive clover. She promised to teach us a  special technique next year. She's even publishing a book about it. I'll be taking her class again.
