Rug Hooking Camp

Last week I attended Off the Ocean rug hooking camp in Jacksonville. My instructor was Bev Conway. I had such a good time, met up with old friends, met new ones, had some great meals - even trying stuff I had never heard of before last week.

This is my pattern, Merrie Halloween from Spruce Ridge/Kris Miller adapted by Notforgotten Farms.
And this is the end of "Day 1".

I decided to do something different, no moons and stars in her dress. Bev suggested polka dots, so each dot is being inserted by hand and then hooked over. Interesting and time consuming.

This is the end of "Day 2". She has a face. I'd never done eyes before, so Bev helped me. She's beginning to look like a lady, no pumpkin heads. I like the lady image and really was no longer interested in a "Pumpkin Lady" so I adapted the pattern which I had purchased several years ago.

This is the end of "Day 3". Not a whole lot of progress, more dots and worked on the outside vining.

This is "Day 4". We put a little bluebird upon her stick. I laughed when I showed it to my friend and she said, "Oh, you turned her into Lizzie Border with an axe". I'm okay with her being Lizzie. The vines and flowers are growing. I took several lovely taupes and beiges to use for the background. Bev took one look and said BORING.  The background will be a mix of light blues and light greens. So far, so good.

My time at camp has ended. I'm home and so far have not hooked one tiny little loop on my lady. But I know I'll get her done soon. She's looking so grand.  Sue
